Husband in court over wife’s death

The Port Elizabeth Magistrate court was jam-packed this morning when Christopher Panayiotou made his first court appearance over the death of his wife Jade.

The Uitenhage schoolteacher was kidnapped outside her townhouse in Kabega Park more than a week ago. Body was found outside Uitenhage a day later.

He was not asked to plead and will remain in custody until his next court appearance on June 19..

Former Nelson Mandela Metro mayor Nomdumiso Mapanzi who is now the Commissioner for Gender Equality joined the Democratic Alliance Women’s Network (Dawn) who picketed and sang outside the court.
